  Language Courses

The company where I work said I was great at computing, which was a good enough reason for them to hire me. But even though I was intimate with several programming languages, there was a kind of knowledge I was lacking... spoken languages. They said that they would hire me if I was able to take some language courses. I accepted, as I really love learning. The truth is that I had never had the chance to learn a new language and the English courses UK offers are outstanding.

During that English course I learnt enough to completely understand English natives. However, English languages have so many different accents that if you get used to one of them it is very likely that you won’t be able to understand others. I was accustomed to the American accent, and British accents were usually much harder for me. This was until I took the course - I liked it so much than then I decided to relocate and take French courses Oxford. Oxford, perhaps not as famous for language teaching as Cambridge, certainly maintains a reputation for academia. My professor was called Pierre and although he was the archetypical Frenchman (beret and everything), he was also very strict. In class we were not allowed to say even a word in any other language than French. So it was hard in the beginning, but let's just say that it was completely worth it...

Back in Manchester, I tried out some French courses Manchester had to offer. But I wasn’t in the elementary level anymore. I sat a level exam and to my surprise was rated at level 3, a shock since I was expecting to move to stage 2. After a while I knew enough French to travel to Paris and do some good business with a Belgian company.

My experience had been so good in Oxford that after a few months I felt I needed to refresh my English grammar and took two English courses Oxford offered. In that place I met a girl called Wanda - she was from Spain and was very pretty. After a couple of classes I asked her out and she accepted. At first I couldn’t believe it, but soon realized that her English was very hard for me to understand. I didn’t know how to solve that situation - it was kind of frustrating. So, now I am determined. I am searching to find the best Spanish courses offered in London. I will learn Spanish London or not!
